Are You Ready for Part 3?

Part 3 preparation is not just about knowing the marking form. It is about being able to make good teaching decisions naturally, safely and consistently.

QUICK SELF-CHECK

Ask Yourself These Questions

  1. Can I identify a genuine pupil need and turn it into a clear lesson goal?
  2. Can I agree an appropriate level of support with the pupil?
  3. Can I recognise when the pupil needs more help or less help?
  4. Can I manage developing risk without waiting too long?
  5. Can I recognise when a fault is isolated and when it is becoming a pattern?
  6. Can I adapt the lesson when the evidence changes?
  7. Can I change the route or level of challenge when necessary?
  8. Can I help the pupil reflect rather than simply tell them what went wrong?
  9. Can I keep teaching naturally while being observed?
  10. Could I manage the lesson if it developed differently from the one I expected?
Part 3 readiness is not about having a perfect script. It is about being able to respond intelligently to what happens.
KNOWING IS NOT ENOUGH

Can You Apply It in the Car?

You may understand lesson planning, risk management and teaching strategies when reading about them.

The real question is whether you can apply those principles while teaching a real pupil, managing the road and making decisions in real time.

Understanding good instruction is the first step. Practising it until it becomes natural is what prepares you for Part 3.

A strong Part 3 lesson is not a performance you memorise. It is a lesson you manage.
